About Me

The Municipality of Mirdita lies in a territory with diverse cultural and ethnographic heritage, with a rich subsoil with large amounts of copper minerals and its by-products, as well as a large number of archeological sites, some of which date from the period of copper. Mirdita is a predominantly agricultural and livestock area, while viticulture is the most competitive production activity, with a safe and very attractive market. One of the most interesting areas is the exploitation of the hydro-energy capacities of the rivers Fan i Madh and Fani i Vogël, Uraka, Dodaj river, and other mountain streams. The area of forests in the municipality of Mirdita is 10 times larger than the fund of agricultural land, therefore livestock and mainly breeding of sheep and goats in herds of 50 to 300 heads is widespread. Mountain tourism and mainly agro-tourism have been in the focus of the Municipality in recent years not only to diversify the tourist packages of the area but to give a new pole to economic development and job creation. Although it is crossed by the E851 highway, one of the most important transport corridors for Albania, the rugged rural territory with a road infrastructure that requires intervention often becomes an obstacle to the rapid development and economic development of the area.
