About Me

CSBNO - Culture Socialità Biblioteche Network Operativo, is a library system based in the city of Milan. It includes 33 municipalities, for a total of citizens, overall we estimate 120 persons are part of CSBNO workforce. CSBNO pursues the creation of a new library model, that focus on the idea of a cultural and digital hub. Today the network include 60 libraries, 45 of which are public libraries, 7 are school libraries, 2 focus on younger people, 1 is a professional library, 1 is located inside an enterprise and 3 are local documentation centre. Every library in the system is able to integrate their traditional services, with more innovative ones, such as Fab lab, Coworking, Business Services etc.
The specific tools, that have been put in motion to realise this new model of library are the following: human-centred design methods (Design thinking), active citizenship, professional training for librarian,  introduction of automation solutions, for the management of the public spaces. CSBNO is also one of the promoters of "Rete delle Reti", an online platform appointed to host all library networks, who're interested in joining in, and to help them collaborate and share good practises.
