IPES - Portuguese Solar Energy Institute is “a not for profit” association dedicated to the development and promotion of the Solar Energy sector in Portugal.
The Institute wants to add value to the interest and initiatives of its associates in research and development and demonstration of their new technologies and solutions, in particular with a view to their penetration in foreign markets. It wants to help create the right environment for the sector to strive, helping the Government to define the right energy policies for the sector. It will be an antenna for the new developments taking place elsewhere in the World, helping its associates to establish consortia and/or bilateral collaborations with other companies or entities, within and outside Portugal, at the same time providing an implicit quality assurance to the work being proposed or performed. The Institute further wants to help its associated to have access to R,D&D financing funds and other opportunities and be available for project management whenever the Associates so ;
IPES has focused its main activities in the assessment of Solar Radiation in Portugal, with a special focus on Direct Normal Irradiance (DNI). The objective is to evaluate the available solar resource in order to map the prime locations for the creation of solar plants (either PV, CPV or STE).
