About Me

Roma Rock School is a non-profit organization based in Skopje, North Macedonia . Roma Rock School was founded in May 2017, by the music enthusiastic Alvin Salimovski, and we are rocking ever since!

We provide free music education to Roma youth and children from economically and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. We strive to increase multi-ethnic tolerance and reduce discrimination through music.

We currently offer nine different classes: drums, guitar, bass guitar, vocals, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, theory of music, and solfège.
Additionally, we have bands that rehearse regularly and perform at concerts.

Music brings us closer, music lets us express ourself, and helps us develop empathy. Our goal is to brake the social stigmas for Roma people with the power of music. We help young people find their path, gain and share new experiences with our non-formal music educational program.

Music Connects is a project made by Netherlands Enterprise Agency and includes the collaboration of Musicians Without BordersFontys Rock  AcademyMitrovica Rock School (Kosovo), Enterprise Music School (Skopje) and Roma Rock School. The idea of the project is to utilize the power of music to connect communities and leave behind social stigmas. Since 2018, Roma Rock School has enrolled around 40 young people eager to study and practice musical instruments, and gain life skills through ;

Throughout the year, students have different instrumental classes, such as guitar, percussion, bass guitar, woodwinds, vocals, solfege and music theory. The academic year culminates with a week-long summer school in Skopje, with students from the different organizations participating.
