About Me

GEA was founded in 2004. Its main goal is to promote and support processes of integration and active citizenship of immigrant families, in particular children and women.

GEA has developed experiences and skills of intercultural education and integration, mainly through services of Cultural and Linguistic Mediation, counseling and consulting for immigrants, institutions and territorial services. We act in the relations between public institutions and immigrants in order to facilitate and promote understanding and effective relations.

In the proposal framework, GEA has developed a specific model of intervention to boost immigrant children and families social and health integration and tackle discrimination in accessing services due to linguistic and cultural differences. The model enables a better coordination among schools, intercultural mediation and social health services entitled to evaluate and manage psychological and learning disabilities in order to supply intercultural keys and skills for the preventive cases evaluation of immigrant students who may suffer of such difficulties advised by teachers, supporting families in relating properly with the services. Without these specific intercultural tools and an effective coordination among different services and institutions, immigrant children and families suffer discrimination in relating with these fundamental services, linked with fundamental rights such as education and health, not being able to properly understand issues and express themselves, due to linguistic and cultural differences. Also, public services employees and managers show a lack of intercultural information and skills, and risk to have their work and decisions influenced by prejudices and wrong information.

GEA has developed experience in different EU projects both as partner and lead partner and can ensure appropriate operational and managerial competences, as well as administrative and accounting skills
