Goals of the Association:
/1/ Fostering contacts and cooperation of all public actors in the implementation process of settlement and regional development
/2/ Increasing the role of settlements and their associations in the process of settlement and regional development and enforcing the use of professional principles in all levels and fields
/3/ Inspection of economic and social criteria necessary to the development of settlements and association opportunities, survey of the rational and development of certain government and local competences and fostering of these in accordance with the actual development level of Hungary and with the international processes, with special emphasis and support on European Union integration and CEFTA cooperation tendencies in relation to government bodies, local governments and their associations, development councils and local civic organizations. Helping the process of legal harmonisation and supporting the building of EU integration institutions in order to fulfil the duties of settlement and regional development
/4/ Development of the professional quality of concepts, plans, proposals, submissions aiming at the development of the legal, economic, administration, social and geographic-structural conditions of the settlement and regional development and fostering the efficiency of the organization and decision making system thereof. Preliminary assessment and subsequent analysis and evaluation of the socio-economic effects of central and local government decisions
/5/ Recognition of the merits of persons and activities related to innovation in settlements' and regions' development
/6/ Provision of fora for debates and initiatives in these issues. Supporting of the education and further training of public servants and local government officials, promotion of the partnership in scientific and professional activities in terms of territorial planning and programming
/7/ Transfer of international experiences and scientific achievements with the aim of raising the standard of settlement and regional development in Hungary as well as wide publication of Hungarian achievements and harnessing of opportunities implied in international cooperation
