It is the service created by the Government of Extremadura, to promote actions to prevent and manage situations of dependency that affects the most vulnerable groups of population. It is assigned to the competent Department of Healthcare and Social Policies, which is intended to exercise the functions of administration and management services, geriatric incomes and programs as requested by the Administration of the Autonomous is developping and coordination of social policies about disable and senior people.
The development of the Law of promotion of autonomy and Dependency Care supposes an important incoming in the field of healthcare. The functions of SEPAD are related to care people dependent and promote different actions focused in healthy lifestyle for senior people. The Infraestructure to realize this policies are the Nursing Homes, the Day Centers and other resources. The Organization SEPAD also colaborates with private institutions in order to guarantee a correct care for the collectives.
