About Me

I am a cultural anthropologist currently conducting research in the areas of disaster, risk, uncertainty, expertise, and infrastructure. My research is situated at the intersection of cultural anthropology and science and technology studies with a regional emphasis on Turkey.

I completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Anthropology at Rice University in 2009. I published the book, Remaking Politics, Markets and Citizens in Turkey: Governing Through Smoke (Bloomsbury) in 2015.

My articles are published in Regulation and Governance, Ethnologie Française, Social Anthropology, Health, Risk and Society, Environment and Planning E: Nature and Space and Urbanities. She is currently working in the Department of Anthropology at Yeditepe University in Istanbul.

I am interested in participating in projects about disaster preparedness, resilience, risk analysis, citizen rights, and equality.
