PROBLEM: Buses are a big source of air pollution in Europe, which according to European statistics have some cities  the worst air pollution problems in the EU. The Aphekom study showed that European city-dwellers - up to nearly 90 percent - are still exposed to concentrations of air particulates well above the levels advised by the World Health Organization and European standards. Europe has also a huge problem with municipal and commercial waste management and landfill dumps. This is further exacerbated by China’s decision to ban the import of waste plastic from Europe and all other countries. Europe will be forced to find new ways to deal with this waste. It used to ship 60% of plastics and 13% of paper collected for recycling to China each year.

SOLUTION: TRESOIL BIOFUELS SRL (TRESOIL) will promote a fast development and commercial take-up and deployment of the new Powerhouse Energy (PHE) waste to transport fuel (PHEW2H)-Ultra Heat Temperature (UHT) distributed modular gasification DMG® technology power plant to produce % pure hydrogen at community level to fuel urban transport from municipal and commercial waste (MSW), eliminating toxic waste, air pollution and indiscriminate dumping into landfill and illegal dumps.

Plastic packaging waste is a huge problem around the world. Despite efforts in some European countries such as plastic bottle deposit schemes or having to pay for plastic bags in the supermarket, the average EU citizen creates 31kg of plastic waste per year.  It's estimated that the equivalent of 400,000 premature deaths occur each year in Europe due to illnesses caused by long-term exposure to air pollution. Diesel vehicles are recognised as a major contributor to the air pollution and health problems. To illustrate how this new disruptive zero emission PHEW2H waste and hydrogen fuel production technology can eradicate difficult-to- hazardous waste, old tires, non-recyclable plastics. No amount of particulates, whether coarse, fine or ultrafine, in air is safe to breathe. Particulates entering the lungs, depending on extent, can be life-threatening; regardless of concentration, these are health and life impacting if not health- and life-limiting.

PHEW2H is an innovative disruptive new technology solution for processing municipal and commercial waste into hydrogen transport fuel with zero emission at a low cost. The system will be DMG module will be built at the PowerHode Enrgy manufacturing plant in the UK produce road fuel quality hydrogen at a cost of 2-4 Euro/kg. The market retail price for hydrogen today stands at 12 Euro/kg. The objective is to write a feasibility study and full business plan to successfully scale up the PHEW2H systems for market readiness. Municipalities and urban transport companies are able to divest themselves of waste they produce on a daily basis, and take advantage of self-produced hydrogen and thermal heat for their own use. Distributed Modular Gasification DMG® is at RTL 7 stage readiness for commercialisation and allows for easy, economical, deployment and scaling of a solution to air pollution and the environmental challenge of waste eradication. The attraction of the PHEW2H system is further reinforced by China’s decision to ban the import of waste plastic from Romania and all other countries.
