Promoting Indigenous Produce, Artisanal Value-Added Products and Traditional Food Recipes

Traditional foods are founded on culture and migration, place and space, and on the ability of communities to maintain their relationship with indigenous produce, artisanal products and the traditional recipes passed down the generations.

We have been collecting data on local food produce and value-added food products since the late 1990s while building up a huge database of traditional recipes.  

Most recipes are products of an oral tradition and where the dialect or language has died out this precious information has been lost. We are gradually building partnerships with individuals and groups who understand the importance of traditional food cultures (especially in the context of sustainable food security) and we welcome the opportunity to establish more links.

The ultimate aim is to create platforms that allow communities to celebrate their traditional food, whether they are live events such as cookery classes, demonstrations and tastings, fairs and festivals promoting indigenous produce and artisanal products or books and films and podcasts.
