Empowering Youth through Education and Training: A Project by Atelier Espoir et Avenir

Atelier Espoir et Avenir, a non-profit company formed in August 2021 in the southwest of Mauritius, is committed to empowering youth through education support and training skills in rural areas. Directed by Huguette Rosemain, the organization aims to provide young people with all the resources they need to be the leaders of tomorrow.

The program focuses on providing training in bakery, pastry, and culinary arts. This project aims to reduce unemployment and eradicate poverty in families. The training school will run for nine months per year, following the same schedule as the school system in Mauritius. Students will have the opportunity to complete an internship at a local establishment with follow-up from their trainer until they are hired.

The program targets young people who have difficulty finding employment due to leaving school early for various reasons. By providing them with training and support, the organization hopes to help them find employment and become responsible adults. The organization is committed to building a society where every young person can easily realize their potential and achieve their goals.

In the area where the program operates, five hotels recruit new employees every year due to retirements. While there are many training schools in Mauritius, none cater specifically to this type of student. These young people need more attention and confidence but have all the potential to be good employees.

The program provides professional training in bakery, pastry, and culinary arts to youth from disadvantaged backgrounds. After completing the training, students will participate in a practical and theory exam and receive a certificate if they achieve a good result. There will be follow-up during an internship at a local hotel by their trainer until they are employed. The training school is free of charge for these youth due to their financial situation.

This project is important because too many youths in rural areas have difficulty finding employment. They may not have completed their higher education and may never have attended a training institute. This project aims to solve the problem of youth unemployment in the surrounding area by providing training and support for employment in the many hotels, restaurants, guesthouses, and supermarkets in the region.

The organization plans to train ten participants aged 16-22 from rural areas in each department (bakery, pastry, and culinary) every year. At the end of the training session, there will be an evaluation followed by certificate-awarded courses.

We don't have any partners and sponsors yet, we have registered our non-profit to the CSR Fund and are still waiting for an answer.
