RURAL COMMUNITY YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

This organization is a Sierra Leonean base organization located in the Eastern region of Sierra Leone in the regional headquarter town of Kenema. This organization was found to unify and transform roral community youths as they have being neglected long ago by the central government. Young women and men have been denied off their right.

RCYDP stands for Rural Community Youth Development Programme and the aim of this organization is to unify and transform the lives of rural community youths from all negative activities to positive once.

The psychosocial trauma which has ordered the lives of rural community youths into negative thinking makes them feel as if they have been neglected by the central government. This is the more reason why rural community youths are involved in alcoholism, drug abuse, sexual violence, political violence, okada/bike riding etc.

The construction of youth centres in all the chiefdom headquarter towns within Kenema district and even beyond will make them feel belong again and that will help to restore their lives. Some of the areas we will be looking at include: Youth centre Construction, Health promotion, Education, Agriculture and livelihood support programme like Small ruminant project, Poultry management, rice farming, Cassava farming, Vegetable production, Cool room and fish pond construction etc and marketing of their products which will help to improve their lives. And can provede alternative livelihood support. other areas are feeder road construction, high school, hospital Chiefdom administrative building etc. That is the reason why gender equity is more relevant and most be consider.
