About Me

I am a Professor in Human Geography and Director of the Centre for Migration Policy Research (CMPR) at Swansea University, UK. My research interests are in poverty, mobility and inequality. I am an author of several peer-reviewed publications on poverty and migration in Europe, South America and Asia. In the last 9 years, I secured £ mn in research funding to Swansea University, including Horizon2020 award for research on Technologies and Perceptions of migration flows in Europe, UK government (ESRC) award for research on social security of migrants in Scotland, Newton Fund award for poverty alleviation in Bangladesh and India, and UK government (ESPA) funding for inter-disciplinary research for poverty alleviation in the Amazon. Apart from academic publications, I produced three exhibitions, four short films, multi-lingual children’s storybook to publicise the empirical and conceptual insights into the migrant experience and provide inter-disciplinary solutions to international migration problems. I will be happy to develop innovative, creative methodologies for research project, building on my previous experiences of using visual art, drawing, storybooks and films. I have significant exprience in delivering impact and community engagement, which is recognisd in recent Research and Impact Awards my team received
