Panevėžys city municipality administration is a non-profit budgetary organisation which is organised and managed in accordance to laws of Republic of Lithuania. Most important task of Administration is implementing public administration, promoting administrational skills of civil servants, increasing the efficiency of applied practices.
Municipality has experienced in the management and implementation of EU projects in different thematic fields (urban development, social inclusion, tourism, environment, cultural and natural heritage, etc) since 2005. During the years 2007-2013 Administration of Panevėžys city Municipality has implemented over 43 different projects funded by EU structural funds, with total budget of 27 million EUR. Panevėžys city Municipality is implementing 56 projects funded by EU structural funds from period 2014-2020.
Panevėžys Municipality emphasizes the need of international contacts in order to continually develop the city‘s opportunities to grow. Openness and understanding of foreign cultures, exchange of experience are very important conditions for us as citizens to be successful. Panevėžys works continuously on developing good working relationships with its twin towns. The twin town activities cover among other things cultural exchange. At the present Panevezys Municipality works on strengthening neighbourhoods’ communities, thus encouraging civic participation and increasing democratic engagement, strengthening citizenship skills.
