Enhancing Faith Institutions (EFI) is a non-theological consultancy working to meet the needs of ethnic minority faith-based communities in Europe. We work in a culturally sensitive, multidisciplinary way to provide research, training, advice, and guidance to support and influence the challenges faced by these communities. A key area of focus is developing institutional governance, training, improving strategic choices, and developing effective communication strategies. EFI recognizes the key roles places of worship play in providing guidance. We also recognize the difficulties that are faced by Faith Leaders and other key members of community institutions when providing guidance, sound thinking and educational experiences. EFI through our years of experience and work, are equipped to engage and understand the requirements of key stakeholder weather at Governmental levels or communities on the ground. With our diverse team in terms of expertise and locations (across Europe) we have the base and capacity to develop the capacity of religious institutions and communities. Working with agencies that are concerned with business, education, and government at local, regional, national, and international levels have enabled us to identify the misconceptions that face faith-based communities have and to work towards challenging these. Our work has focused on the greater inclusion of all members of faith-based communities and we are working towards increasing the confidence and skills of women and young people. EFI is based in Dublin, Ireland but our team is spread across Europe: in France, Germany, Belgium, and Switzerland to name a few. We are flexible and easily able to work on the ground with our target communities and institutions, as well as other partners. We are dedicated to ensuring faith-based communities can practice their religion in freedom AND can contribute positively to the societies in which they live. Here’s an overview summary of the key active Projects being delivere by EFI: SOAR Project (2021–present) Strengthening Security/Resilience of At-Risk Religious Sites and Communities Led by EFI with Finn Church Aid and the Architects’ Council of Europe, this EU-funded initiative enhances protection of places of worship across Europe. PARTESS-COM Project (2025–2027) Participatory Approaches to Protecting Places of Worship, Schools, and Community Centres Focuses on inclusive strategies for safeguarding community spaces, particularly those tied to faith institutions. MEET Programme (2022–present) Muslim European Empowerment Programme Promotes intra- and interfaith dialogue, building stakeholder capacity to address challenges facing Muslims in Europe while celebrating their contributions. VIRTUOUS Project (2025–2028) Vulnerability, Risk Assessment Tools and Training Exercises for the Active Protection of Religious Buildings Develops tools and simulations to assess and mitigate risks to religious sites. SHIELDED Project (2025–2028) Schools, Religious Communities and Local Authorities’ Harmonised Initiative to Enhance Local Resilience Aims to build resilience through coordinated efforts among key societal actors. Faith Institution Development and Safeguarding (2020–present) Offers governance, safeguarding, and management training for supplementary schools linked to faith institutions.  Environmental Sustainability (2020-present) We are leaders in the arena of environmental sustainability for Faith Institutions in Europe The initiative envisions a transformative journey towards sustainable water practices within places of worship and the communities it serves. As water resources become scarce and increasingly expensive it is imperative that we work to protect this precious commodity.  Rooted in the rich faith tradition of stewardship, the project is a call to action for faith leaders and worshipers to emerge as leaders in water conservation, fostering a sense of responsibility and mindfulness.
