Analogy is an essential tool of human cognition that enables connecting systems with causal and functional relations and essential to learning, to innovation.

In literature there is lack in understanding different personality type’s use of analogy and the way how they think, act and react in a daily life problem solving process in different task-domain and contexts. Enneagram personality typing will be used just considering the centers of intelligence at the first glance.

This study aims to explore and develop how to improve problem solving processes and the substages. This is a study where cognitive science, neuroscience will be applied to understand the cognitive, emotional and functional patterns of different personality types.

The study aims to make a contribution to collaboration in problem solving processes by investigating the interaction among three main factors: (1) personality types, (2) execution of problem solving steps and (3) the creative solutions achieved.

An experiment is conducted to understand how people with different personality types differ from each other in the way they execute each step of a problem solving process for a given task. Participants will take part in the experiment consisting of three tasks: (1) retrieval of source information, (2) mapping, transferring and adapting the whole information selected and (3) evaluating the final solution achieved.

In individually executed analogical problem solving process, differences between personalities will be analyzed in terms of their potantials and stucks.
