Zvyšovanie úrovne kvality výučby anglického jazyka na škole rozvíjaním vybraných kľúčových kompetencií
Start date: Dec 1, 2016, End date: Nov 30, 2018 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project comes out of the need to improve the level of key kompetences of the teachers which consequently should lead to improvement of the process of education and development of key competences of our students. The main goal of our project is to learn how to use information-communication technology as a tool for multicultural and media education since the issue of multiculturalism has been one of the topics being often discussed and the process of decision making about the future of Europe is a very complex process, the complexity of which has also been determined by the migration crises. Thus in our prospective, it is absolutely necessary to adequately focus on multicultural and media education so that the young are ready and capable of independent critical thinking, problem solving, being creative and original etc. The methodology that we want to apply in the process of multicultural and media education is role play, simulation, improvisation and drama. That is the reason why both participants have chosen different courses which, however, follow common aim of the project and they mutually complement each other.Janka Zajacova Rozmusova is a teacher of English with experience of teaching english to students at all different age groups. She dealt with the issue of multicultural education in both her first and second attestation thesis. She is experienced in working on different multinational projects within the Comenius program. She gets her students involved in all different school and extra-curricular activities, competitions and projects. She regularly attends various workshops, courses, seminars, in-service trainings and conferences organized by different education institutions and organizations. She passses the acquired knowledge to her students and colleagues. The course of Information-communication technology as a tool for multicultural and media education is an opportunity not only to improve her competences and skills but also practical experience with other cultural values and traditions. Anezka Barillova is an experienced English teacher whose rich experience and pedagogical abilities to join student actively into education process can be proved by her experience in different sucessful grants woth positive results. She attended several cources focused on Activating methods organised by Slovak Methodolical Center. Attending the above mentioned course would be another very valuable experince and ability to improve quality of English teaching. In the beginning stage of the project both participants are going to study literature recommended by the organizers of the courses. They will also fill in the questionnaires sent by the organizers so that they are able to adapt the contents of the courses according to the needs of their participants. After taking part in the course Information-communication technology as a tool for multicultural and media education Janka Zajacova Rozmusova will share the contents of the course, the gained experience, the outcomes of the course and the material with her colleague, Anezka Barillova. In the process of education and within the extra-curricular activity named Club of Intercultural communication competence Janka Zajacova Rozmusova will focus on application of the principles of multicultural education, she will follow the goals of multicultural education and choose the activities which help to follow the goals and aims. Gradually, students should understand cultural diversity, differences not only in visible features of cultures but also where the differences come from, values, attitudes and prejudices in different cultures. We predominantly want to focus on natural verbal communication but also on natural way of nonverbal communication because body language is determined by culture. After taking part in Teaching English with minimum resources course Anežka Barillová will focus on apllication of different tasks that promote the role of the teacher as a facilitator and language expert, teaching the four skills without reliance on handouts and materials and thus use drama & improvisation activities in the process of education and within the extra-curricular activity named Drama Club.
