Zrozumienie dziecięcych serc i umysłów - zaburzenia emocjonalne uczniów, a problemy w uczeniu się.
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

During realisation of the project we took part in a five-day course "Understanding Children's Hearts and Minds: Emotional Functioning and Learning Disabilities" organized by "Centro Studi Infol" which is located in Rome, Italy. The course offered both theoretical training on strategies and techniques of reducing children's problems in learning or negative stress and practical workshops as well as a visit in an Italian school. We believe that thanks to the knowledge and new experience which we gained, we are now able to react to the occurring problems much faster and more effectively. We have found ways to notice the youths disabilities and counteract with their appearance. As the participants of the project, we wanted to broaden our knowledge about disorders in emotional functioning of our learners and their correlation with problems in studying. We also hoped to receive new tools and acquire innovative methods of supporting our students and helping them deal with their difficulties. The course was supposed to give the teachers strategies and techniques to reduce learning disabilities and stress. The participants of the project are four female educators who have been teaching various subjects for different periods of time, have various work experience and different posts. For all of them contact with the children takes place not only in a classroom, but also during various trips or excursions, visits at the theatre or the cinema, participating in competitions or after-school clubs. Three of the teachers are also form tutors and one is a deputy of the headmaster and that is the reason why it is so import_ant for us to be able not only to deal with problems but also to understand their roots and the way children's mind works. All the participants have been working with children for many years (from 4 to 24 years) and they are able to use English in a communicative level, which was indispensable to participate in the course. We hope that the knowledge which we gained on the course has improved the quality of our school, extended qualifications of our teachers and made us able to understand our students better. As the participants of the training we shared the new information brought from Rome with our co-workers to make all our staff more skillful at diagnosis of our learners and solving their problems. That is how not only the group of four teachers has benefited from realisation of the project but the whole school community. We drew conclusions and consequently put our new tools and methods into practice. We believe, however, that our students benefited most of all. It was very import_atnt to gain their trust and that was what we hoped to learn in Rome. They are aware that they can count on us and get our help when they need it and when their closest relatives are unable or unwilling to do it. They are most import_ant and valuable for our teachers and we really want to do our best to improve their situation by helping them to become not only better students but also better people with good prospects for the future.
