Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Members of European Union (EU) are promoting equal rights and they are doing this regardless of the social group from which people are. Unfortunately in the Baltic countries people who have severe disabilities and especially mental disabilities are almost entirely without possibility for being integrated into society due to prejudice that this group is not capable to work and the mind that they can not be useful for society. Currently in Lithuania the unemployment rate among disabled people is about 75%, while in the EU countries the rate of unemployment in this group is much lower. This situation in Lithuania has developed because almost no one has successful practice in providing trainings and later developing workplaces for disabled people. Therefore, a consortium which is consisted of two educational institutions and one company which is providing trainings by creating real workplaces for those people (established more than 800 workplaces for disabled people) visited Gureak which are successfully working in other EU countries for absorbing best practices by method of observation and those practices later was apply to our country. During this internship, participants from the consortium participated in the theoretical trainings and also in disabled people work practices in real workplaces. Afterwards, Lithuania’s educational institutions update their vocational training methodology for people with severe disabilities (especially with mental disabilities) and in cooperation with members of consortium will integrate disabled people into society by establishing workplace for them. Even after the project all members of the consortium share the best practices for employing people with severe disabilities and if there is need members of the consortium help for every Lithuanian companies and companies from other countries to adapt vocational training methodology according to their needs. It is expected that after the project the unemployment rate of the disabled will be reduced to 50-60% within 5 years. Currently this rate is decreasing very negligible because more people with disabilities started to migrate between companies. Meanwhile, by having successful practice for employing disabled people there will be a possibility to employ people who are passive in labour market and this will significantly contribute to reduce the level of unemployment among disabled people. 7 members have been chosen to ensure that participants of the project would be people who are working directly with disabled people vocational trainings methodologies preparation, working in collaboration with business development, establishment of workplaces, publicity and vocational trainings. This let to ensure that maximum benefit and impact reach in successful integration of people with severe disabilities via workplaces established for them and by publicizing this information in Lithuania and other countries. Europass document of mobility was used during the project. In this document there is written what competencies participants of the project was improve, in which field it was be improved and what participants was be doing in the project. All the acquired competencies was evaluated based on this document. Also, all of the participants before the internship was prepared detailed joint plan which will include: general logistics, accommodation and schedule during the internship. Project coordinator was be responsible for travelling, accommodation and life insurance.
