Zlepšení metodologických kompetencí učitelů anglického jazyka
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Needs:The educational project for the mobility of individuals comes from the needs of the applying school and from the European development plan for the school and it is focused on teachers of English language. Although they have necessary education and experience, they still need to maintain living contact with the language and English culture and learn the new innovative methods of teaching which are used in EU countries and study them. Direct contact with a foreign country, its culture and mentality is very important for these teachers. They can, therefore, gain new knowledge and skills more easily and pass them on in the educational process. The needs are stated by the chosen teachers in their letters of motivation (see attachment) according to which they were selected for this program. We would like to use the mobility of teachers from the project ERASMUS+ to fulfil the needs stated above. The mobility will be used for professional courses in English-speaking countries, particularly in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Aims of the project:The main aim of the project is to increase the methodological competences of the concerned teachers. Gained knowledge and skills from the course will enrich the teachers in the field of new interactive methods of teaching, it will show them new methodological approaches in foreign language teaching and it will broaden their knowledge of the life and institutions of the UK, together with the culture and history of the country. The subordinate aim of the project is to gain contacts and the creation of international cooperation within a particular subject so that we can realize other projects of mobility, for example in the area of the professional training of our students in the teaching and training fields of study. Number and profile of the participants:The participants are qualified teachers of English language with university diplomas and with a varied length of teaching practice from two to 24 years. There were five teachers of English language who showed their interest in the project, see attachment for written confirmation. Three of them are also currently teaching different subjects: history, mathematics and religion.Chosen activities:The selected teachers, after the common preparation, will attend courses in various terms due to the coverage of classes. The courses will be chosen according to their specializations and needs in connection with the subjects they teach (CLIL method). The contents of the courses will always be primarily focused on the fulfilment of the project’s aims, which is the improvement of the methodological competences of teachers of English language.Realisation:The main coordinator of the project, authorized by the school, is in charge of the management of the project, together with the head of the English department, who contributed to the creation of the project. She manages the selection of courses and coordinates the teachers’ travel. The suitability of the courses will be judged according to a clear programme and outline of the courses, available lessons and expected outcomes. Necessary administration will be dealt with by the coordinator together with the project manager and economist of the school. Decision-making authority is the headmaster of the school. These members of the team together monitor the progress of the project and they are responsible for the evaluation and dissemination of the mobility outcomes. Outcome:The involved teachers will gain self-confidence in the correct use of the language, deep knowledge of the language and insight into the cultural awareness of the specific country. Improvement of language competences and participation in the program abroad will be an opportunity for personal and professional development. A part of the mobility will be the dissemination of the experience in the form of a presentation at educational events of our school as well as the partner schools in Slovakia and in Vienna. Impact:Attendance in the program will deepen teachers’ methodological competences. They will gain more self-confidence in teaching and the use of English language. They will be able to implement the CLIL method in different subjects more easily. Thanks to their increased professionalization they will enrich the teaching staff and contribute to the image and competitiveness of the school. Contribution:Contribution for the organization will be a sufficient number of motivated and linguistically equipped teachers who will be able to dynamically introduce new methods and approaches, thus increase the level and attractiveness of foreign language teaching.
