Zdravstvena njega i rehabilitacija u gerontologiji i palijativnoj skrbi
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Medical care and rehabilitation in gerontology and palliative care" proposed by Nursing School Pula is aimed at providing its students (patient care technicians and physical therapy assistants) with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and acquire new skills related to the care of nursing home residents and users of palliative care services. Twenty of our students will get the chance to apply their previously acquired knowledge and improve their performance during this two-week residential programme at healthcare institutions in Ireland. Once they complete their secondary education, the project participants will also be more adequately prepared for the challenges posed by the European labour market. The benefits given by this type of mobility comprise an improvement of the competence our students need in the field of specialist, psychological and social skills training in the international arena. Considering the small number of hospice programmes in Croatia and the increasing number of inadequately equipped nursing homes, our students will also benefit from seeing, learning and applying new knowledge. During their stay in Ireland and their work at various hospices and nursing homes, our students will not only familiarise themselves with new working methods - they will also develop their English language competence and their knowledge about the host country. Furthermore, they will deepen their understanding of technological advances and modern working practices that are not available in their own country. In addition to improving the students' English communication skills, the project will contribute to raising awareness of the common values of the European Union: accepting differences, mutual understanding and commitment to collaboration.
