The project was addressed to 18 students who were being taught the following professions: hotel industry technician, food service technician and cook at the Vocational School Complex in Giżycko. It answered the expectations, which could not be met in the region of the students' residence, such as gaining broader professional experience, mastering language competences and self-development. The most important aims of the project were: raising professional skills of the participants, broadening their competences and knowledge based on European standards of hotel and catering industry, confrontation with solutions (also pro-ecological), applied in hotels and restaurants in Poland and Germany, raising language competences, shaping creativity, openess and mobile attitudes, enhancement of inter-cultural sensitivity through knowledge of different history, culture and traditions. The project assumed preparation of the participants for departure and two-week professional traineeship in Dresden in hotels and restaurants of high standard. Students were divided into two nine-person groups. The first group was on the traineeship from 5th until 16th May 2015 and the second one from 4th till 15th October 2015. In order to prepare the students properly for the traineeship, before the leave, they finished 36 hours language, cultural and pedagogical preparation as well as substantive support. During implementation of the programme of the traineeship, at the host organization, the students expanded their knowledge and developed their skills according to modern standards. The students developed their skills of preparation of the residential units for guests reception, preparation and serving breakfasts in the facility providing hotel services, preparation of different meals and beverages, performing activities connected with food and beverage dispatch. They were taught team work and usage of specialized foreign language which have given opportunity to do professional tasks, usage of foreign sources of information, usage of manuals of gastronomic equipment in German language. Observed novelties are promoted by the students during their traineeships at workplaces and during practical classes at school. The participants had the opportunity to learn about the local culture and customs. They were accommodated in a youth hostel in three- and four-person rooms, not far from their traineeship places. Safety of the students was provided, during traineeship and afterwards, by one teacher of the Vocational School Complex and two representatives of WBS TRAINING AG. The students described the course of the traineeship in a diary and once a week they sent a report via e-mail to the coordinator. After finished traineeship the students achieved the expected aims of the project. They increased the professional competences of the participants, improved of the efficiency of use of German language. Their self-reliance and confidence of their own possibilities is higher. They created the ability of adaptation to working in a foreign company and increased of openess towards different culture and the attractiveness of learning at the Vocational School Complex. At the end of the traineeship each participant received a certificate which confirmed the tasks performed and after coming back to Poland the Europass Mobility document. They will increase the faith of the students in their possibilities and chances of finding work also on European labour market. The project meets the needs of the labour market and will contribute to strengthening of the links between the world of labour and education. The results of the project were disseminated amongst students of the school and other nearby schools, local authorities and institutions cooperating with our school. In Vocational School Complex there was organised "A Day of the German Culture and Cuisine". The project facilitates development of innovative traineeships in vocational training and transfer of the traineeships from one country to another. Our school has had the chance to adjust the teaching program to the labour market expectations. Observed rules will be included in the program of professional traineeships. The project had influence on cooperation of the school in Giżycko with the educational-training company and workplaces in Germany. Foreign traineeship of the youth positively affected the local development. Students, after assimilation of European standards and level of catering and tourist services will implement them to local ground. The attractiveness of the region will raise (commensurate to the project). The beneficiary is the Vocational School Complex and the partner is WBS TRAINING AG.
