Za olivami a vínem na biofarmu v Itálii
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project "Discovering olives and grapewine on the Italian organic farm” is a continuation of our efforts to improve the offer of work experience and training for our students. It is designed for students of the Agrobusiness study programme of the vocational secondary school, who will be in their third or fourth year of study in the time of the internship. By then the students have already chosen their specialization and the corresponding subjects, which the internship will follow up on and provide the students with practical work experience and new knowledge. The project's scope is to organize two internships for our students. Both will take place on the organic farm Fattoria Biologica Patrice in the Italian town of Spoleto. Each internship will focus on different topic reflecting the actual season. In November 2016 - the top season for olives - the internship will concern olive harvest, sorting and oil production. In April 2017, the internship's topic will be grapeyard maintenance and grapewine cultivation and propagation. The interns will also take care of sheep, cows, horses and pigs, all bred in compliance with ethical and ecological principles. Furthermore, they will assist with vegetable growing and orchard. Working time will be six to eight hours per day. The accompanying programme of both internships will consist of the preparation and production of products of the farm (homemade bread, cheese or pasta). We have prepared the project for 24 students in total, participating in two groups. The internships are scheduled to last two weeks, with ten working days. The first internship will take place in November 2016, the other in April 2017. The project will therefore run for the duration of one year, from 1 September 2016 to 31 August 2017. Language and cultural preparation of the students is also part of the project. We have selected our partner for the project on the basis of recommendations from various Czech agricultural schools. Good communication and organization of the internships during the preparation of the project has convinced us that it will be a very good partner who has a lot of experience with internships of students from the whole of Europe. In order to ensure good understanding of the project educational objectives, we have defined units of learning outcomes according to ECVET. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, which defines the basic responsibilities of both partners. If the project is approved, prior to the commencement of the internships we will sign a contract with our partner, defining billing and the responsibilities for specific parts of organization – accommodation, meals, the actual programme, monitoring, evaluation, etc. Furthermore, throughout the project we will use the official documents of the ECVET tool. Upon the completion of the internship the successful participants will receive the Europass mobility certificate. The impact of the project for our students will be significant especially in the terms of their expertise – they will familiarize themselves with growing techniques and production methods, which they have no opportunity to learn about at our school. Furthermore, they will improve their language skills and learn to communicate and act within a group. Regarding the school, the project will serve as promotion of agriculture-related studies, presentation of our school to the prospective students, and enrichment of professional skills and knowledge in our teaching.
