Z mednarodnimi izkušnjami do novega znanja in kompetenc
Start date: Jun 1, 2016, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Primary school Toneta Čufarja Maribor with its 120 years of tradition has a significant position in Primary education in Maribor and Slovenia if we consider the devoted work habits and constant professional development of its school’s employees who cooperate with various national institutions (National Education Institute Slovenia, National School for Leadership in Education, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, National Sport Institute Planica, Slovene Human Resources Development and Scholarship Fund). In the last years, we have been focusing on the quality of learning and teaching, on integrating educational information and communication technology and its critical use in school or at home. We have been developing basic values and have tried to offer extracurricular activities that make it possible to spend ones free time in a quality way, doing sports or being creative, learning foreign languages, developing the mathematical or linguistic literacy. We care for the socially and culturally more vulnerable groups (pupils with special needs, Romany people, immigrants, pupils with socially weak status). The school’s leadership and staff feel that our knowledge and abilities as teachers can be improved by means of international cooperation. This would improve the knowledge and competence of our pupils as well. We have included the international cooperation in our Development plan for the period 2015-2020. In the next five years, we plan to cooperate internationally as follows:1. Various projects in E-Twinning2. Applying for Erasmus+ K1 mobility for 2016 and 20173. Applying for Erasmus+K2 strategic partnership in 20174. Active collaboration with at least one school in Serbia – beginning in 2016First steps have already been taken (E-Twinning, first project with Serbian school). The next plan is to apply for the K1 mobility in Erasmus+ programme. Our goals are to participate in language courses and structured study visits in order to:1. improve the school staff’s knowledge of foreign languages;2. get to know and exchange information about education systems, the culture of the host country, and use the new knowledge to improve our organisation and work;3. use the knowledge and competences gained in the courses and structured study visits to improve our pedagogical work (active methods of teaching, language literacy, formative assessment) and other activities done with pupils;4. better understand social, linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe and incorporate this as much as possible in our work with pupils;5. motivate our employees for new and different ways of teaching and working with pupils;6. find opportunities for further collaboration in terms of K2 strategic partnership that will make the mobility of pupils possible. This would also enable the pupils to improve competences of interaction in foreign language, the understanding of social, linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe and to get to know the European dimensions and opportunities they have in their further career path.Eight people will participate in the project. The school principal, English and German teacher, Geography and History teacher, Science and Citizenship education teacher, Music teacher, Primary (3. Class) teacher, social counsellor and school nutritionist/ health-hygiene regulator. They will participate in English courses and pedagogic visits to schools/institutes with structured training activities in Germany , Finland , Ireland and Iceland. The staff involved will participate in courses and structured study visits related to the participants’ profile and educational level. They will benefit from good teaching practices, which are going to be used in their classroom work and in international cooperation that plan.If our appliance is granted and we participate in the chosen courses and structured study visits, we expect the achievement of previously mentioned goals to be presented and evaluated in various ways such as:- participant’s report (presentation takes place on pedagogical conference);- an intern online publication showing all the project’s goals, short mobility description and reports of individual participants focusing on their new knowledge and competences;- use of the new knowledge, innovative approaches to learning, better understanding of the culture of the host country will be evident in school participants’ annual preparation;- presentation for pupils, parents and others (Cultural day for pupils, Open doors - day for parents, neighbour schools, kindergarten, Pobrežje district and Old people’s home);- At least one local media publication. We expect that the cooperation in this programme will motivate us all and open new possibilities for international cooperation in the future in order to include our pupils and other staff in the programme, broaden our horizons, as well as strengthen pupils’ competences, which they will need for continuing their schooling ,work and living in Europe.
