Z mednarodnim povezovanjem do novih veščin za prijaznejše izobraževanje odraslih
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jul 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In Ljudska univerza Celje we encounter a great variety of users; the majority of them belong to various marginalized groups (such as foreigners, the unemployed, the early leavers, the lowly, ex-convicts etc). These are individuals with a lower working and learning motivation and, consequently, their achievements tend to be low in all life areas. We have noticed the necessity for a preparation of a more holistic treatment of users, in accordance with the new didactic principles, and communication as well as motivation skills. We are aware of the seriousness of the issues concerning foreigners who arrive to our environment on a daily basis, and are becoming a bigger burden for our society as well as our local community. The goal of our project was to gain leadership competence and additional skills in the field of communication, we wanted to be able to successfully motivate the marginalized groups, to expend the comprehension of the problems concerning the marginalized groups, and to become familiar with the didactic approaches successfully used in other countries that are faced with similar issues. We wanted to implement the good practice and models of the previously mentioned countries into our own environment. We wanted to use the newly gained knowledge mostly to replenish and up-grade our own activities and become the leading institution for providing the holistic support to the marginalized groups. It was also our goal to gain the competence related to the understanding of the globality of team and project work and become an institution of international reputation where different fields of European knowledge concerning adult education would transfer into our local environment. The project, entitled ‘Z mednarodnim povezovanjem do novih veščin za prijaznejše izobraževanje odraslih’, included 7 people. The participants chosen for the programme are highly educated individuals with an understanding of the issues concerning the current state of affairs, and who are able of searching for creative solutions. These individuals are guided by work motivation and profundity, they are competent in the field of foreign languages and communication skills (public speaking, passing their gained knowledge, networking etc.) as well as having previous experiences with project work. The main activities of the project were executed in the following order: determination of needs (by using swot analysis) and field determination (fields that needed developing in terms of our vision). We continued by searching for potential partners and establishing contacts. We connected with individuals and organizations that have experiences with Europeans projects and are familiar with the issues concerning adult education. We chose three different organizations and four different education topics. This was followed by the mobility preparations (language support, preparation of the necessary documentation, partner communication). This stage was led by the main coordinator of the development team who was also in charge of the everyday follow-up of the participant in the time of their activity. The participants of mobility led an evaluation diary on a daily basis and sent it to the coordinator via e-mail. Upon completing the mobility, a public presentation followed as well as the expansion of results, media communication and the acceptance of an action plan to introduce the innovations. According to the executed evaluation, we can conclude that we achieved a greater competence in leadership and, consequently, the inner work culture and professional relationships have improved. We also upgraded the vision and mission of Ljudska univerza Celje and became a foreigner/migrant friendly organization with a clear international orientation. We have qualified for the offering of the holistic foreigner/migrant support and thus we began solving the issues our local community was dealing with. We also managed to strengthen the cooperation with the institutions of our local environment (primary and secondary schools, Centre for social services, UE Celje, Employment office UE Celje, General public administration UE Celje) who deal with the foreigner-related issues. Strategically speaking, the city of Celje became a foreigner-friendly place that could, looking long-term, attract individuals interested in investing in the development of industry and services in the local and regional environment. We dissimilated an example of good practice to the professional and layman public in the Celje region with the help of local media, the executed workshops for professional staff and the round table entitled ‘Kako pomembna je celovita integracija tujcev za našo družbo in na kakšen način se tuje države lotevajo tovrstne tematike?’ With a friendly approach, cooperative relationships and new teaching approaches (such as experiential learning, situational learning), we raised the quality of our services. Based on the evaluation questionnaire, we can conclude that t
