YW-Shared Responsibility
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

SUMMARY of ERASMUS+ project: “SHARED RESPONSIBILITY”: The Erasmus+ programme seeks to fight rising levels of unemployment: "Too many young people leave school prematurely and run a high risk of being unemployed." (Programme Guide, Part A, page 9) The aim of our project 'Shared Responsibility' was to successfully guide young people (age 16+) who dropped out of the formal education system, in order to get a degree or to get work (active citizenship), by connecting informal with formal learning. In order to achieve this, it is important that the parties involved (network partners) start to take a shared responsibility for this target group. During this project we brought together a group of 28 people from 3 European countries, all working in the field of "Early school leaving". We exchanged practice and discussed future Erasmus+ project(s). These 28 participants were representatives from 1. the school sector, 2. non-governmental organisations and 3. public authorities in the following countries: the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway. During the project the following activities were carried out: 1. preparations/getting to know (before the seminar and on day one); 2. exchange of best practice (day two); 3. Erasmus+ strategic partnership project development (day two and three); 4. evaluation/follow up/dissemination (day 3+). We used the "Dragon dreaming"-method: from dreaming to concrete project planning. The impact it had on the participants and organisations:- learning from best practice in other sectors/regions/countries; - a new or more developed cross-sectorial "outside the box" way of thinking and attitude; - at least two new concrete Erasmus+ Projects were developed and there are several more project ideas; - more awareness of the organisations' best practices from the feedback of other partners. The expected impact on the target group in the long run:- Better outreach to include young people outside the education system; - Better hands-on methods to prevent young people from dropping out of the education system. The project "Shared Responsibility" was one of the instruments to support the Europe 2020 Strategy to include more young people into the education system and increase youth employability in Europe.
