Youth4Change
Start date: Jun 17, 2014, End date: Nov 16, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Youth4Change is a youth volunteering project that took place in Innsbruck and Wörgl in Austria at the host organisations Die Bäckerei – Kulturbackstube and BETA/Volkshilfe Tirol in the cultural/creative sector and the social educational sector. This long-term EVS project with the duration of 12 months per Service activity, which evolved around the themes of art and culture as well as inclusion and active citizenship. which will impact change in a lot of lives and contexts. Two volunteers from Latvia and the Czech Republic (one volunteer in economic difficulties and one young volunteer, both highly motivated to have a rich learning experience) will explore differnt volunteering settings in Tyrol: Volkshilfe Tirol (BETA) in Wörgl and Die Bäckerei - Kulturbackstube in Innsbruck. One volunteer will be active at a social association, coaching and accompanying unemployed youngsters (early-school-leavers) in order to improve their future outlook and the other volunteer will be active at a cultural association in Innsbruck, working with the realisation and promotion of artistic expression, exchange and creativity. Both volunteers will be part of the host organisations' cultural and social activities and will be networking all over this Austrian region in these fields, meeting different partners and young people. They will be supported to learn on various levels, experience working methods like event management, organising workshops and getting to know social obstacles and how to tackle them. They will be able to develop new views and own intitiative. A big objective is connecting people from different parts of Europe in this project - people who come from different backgrounds and countries, in order to promote diversity and understanding. This volunteering experience will change and strengthen the volunteers' sense of self-efficacy and confidence and teach them about their goals in life and give them new skills and competences. It will also bring a change of working approaches and culture as well as new spirit to the host organisations and the local communities in the Austrian region. Long term benefits might be that the Latvian volunteer spreads the idea of the host organisation Die Bäckerei in Latvia and will start a similar initiative there, that the Czech volunteer gains valuable experience in working with youth who have job problems and will connect well with the target group, so that maybe follow-up projects in this field might be facilitated.
