Youth Work in support for participation
Start date: 01 Aug 2014, End date: 30 Apr 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project “Youth Work in support of participation” is implemented between KVT Finland and CID Macedonia and will offer an opportunity for 1 EVS volunteer from Finland to participate in the youth work system of Kumanovo in Macedonia for a period of 6 months. The projects main aim is to explore and exchange practices in the field of Youth participation, by providing volunteering opportunities for young people. With regards to the local communities involved: - To support the development of spirit of Youth Active Citizenship on local level - To develop tools and practices for delivering local youth work in multicultural groups including tools that use dance, theater, music and drawing - To support spirit of initiative of young people from the local communities involved - To increase sustainability of local youth work programmes focused on intercultural dialogue With regards to the personal development of the EVS volunteer the following results will be achieved: - To develop youth work competences of the volunteer and ability to transfer best practices from one to another organisation - To increase volunteers' sense of initiative and ability to work toward a more inclusive society. - To understand how to develop quality youth work activities on local, national and international level and to be motivated to act as multipliers The main impact of the project is the increasing of active participation and citizenship awareness among the local youth by using youth work. On the other hand the experience of working abroad in an intercultural environment, learning how to organise smaller events and being able to live independently will be a valuable life-skill that will be used in finding employment opportunities for the volunteer upon their return. Also the volunteer will be empowered to initiate their ideas back home and to start actively to take part in the society. In terms of local level outcomes are that the youth in all hosting areas will have a very direct opportunity to learn more about European opportunities in order to feel Europe closer to them. In this sense the project actively supports citizenship awareness. This will lead to a better understanding of youth in general and at the same time braking stereotypes and prejudice that we at this moment have. At the same time we expect that we will raise awareness about integration of different cultures in the community.
