Under the guiding theme „Youto – youth together“, 45 youths from eight European countries will met for a Youth exchange in Bühl/Baden from 28th of July to 5th of August in 2016. The youth encounter is a common project of the city of Bühl and its city partners, founded in 2006. Since then, the youth exchange has been taking place every year in another city of the networking.The project is open for boys and girls aged between 14 and 18 living in one of the partner cities. In 2016, it will be the first time that young people with mental handicap could take part in the youth exchange.The main activities are matched to four phases: The first phase is for making acquaintance, self-reflecting and fixing the personal aims for the youth exchange. In the second part the youths learn about Europe, the European institutions and the common values of the European Union. The third phase is dedicated to concrete measures and emerging challenges of the European Union. This part is focused on the current refugee crises. In the fourth phase the youths will organize their farewell party independently.With this project, the town of Bühl and its partners aim to achieve the long-term development of young Europeans into becoming open-minded, tolerant and social citizens. The youths should develop a clear understanding of Europe and interest in active citizenship. The project consciously focuses on the current issues of the refugee crisis and hopes to increase the comprehension for refugees and asylum seekers and to contribute to peace and freedom in Europe.
