YOUTH TO YOUTH

Given the current environment of nowadays, largely characterized by immediacy, indifference , saturation, lack of trust in institutions and crisis of values, among others, we are convinced that it is essential to begin to act immediately to encourage equality, public participation and respect for human rights among young people. To achieve these goals , we believe that learning and implementing the values of tolerance , solidarity and cooperation are the first step towards development of a effective exercise of human rights , thus providing more opportunities for people , prioritizing the interests of the most vulnerable, and promoting citizen participation within a personal , civic and cultural perspective , to promote social cohesion and equality. It is in this context that triggers the " Youth to Youth " Project: Learning and action in the classroom, whose main objective is to improve the knowledge , skills and competence of our youth through active participation in the school community and society civil generally through a project with two exchanges: at the beginning in the Community of Madrid ( Spain ) and at the end in the region of Coimbra (Portugal ), among which there will be a preparation phase and intervention in the classroom by the 52 young participants , which will be divided into two groups (Spanish and Portuguese), with age between 18 and 30. Moreover, special attention will be paid and some places will be reserved for young people with fewer opportunities and special needs in order to promote integration and to alleviate among others , youth unemployment . The project consists of the following activities: ACT 1 . Dissemination of the program through the channels of the Universities and Schools in the participating regions ( websites , social networks, e- mails, campus screens ... ) , Evaluation and Selection of participants (26 per country) , based on CV, language level and results of the questionnaires that after will be used for design the program. In addition, the platform will rise all the necessary information for participants. November, December 2014 and January and February 2015. Act.2 . Exchange in Madrid of the two groups (Portuguese and Spanish) for the learning phase on the issues arising from the above questionnaires coordinated by experts in the fields , combined with cultural and outdoor activities . Subsequently, participants prepare their school programming interventions with the help and under the supervision of HE , which facilitates dynamics, information, material and resources . The exchange takes place in February 2015 in Madrid and in April 2015 in Coimbra for both groups, in order to offer all the same opportunity of exchange experience . ACT.3 . Schedule of Sessions of human rights education in schools : Participants transmit the knowledge acquired to 780 primary school and secondary school selected in Spain Education Centres ( 390 students) and Portugal ( 390 students) , giving between 4 and 6 classroom sessions during the month of March 2015. During the sessions, participants will used a participatory methodology : dynamics , role plays , etc. . ACT.4 . Post- assessment : In April 2015 all participants , institutions, teachers and students of schools will evaluate the project through physical meetings and qualitative forms. School Students evaluate the sessions that they have received only through a qualitative questionnaire filled during the last session . ACT . April . Experience Sharing and Closing : All participants gather to share their experiences , suggestions and ideas to improve future editions . During the Ceremony will be deliver the diplomas of human rights and certifications above mentioned for participants . The Closing Ceremony will be held in Portugal in April 2015. ACT . 6. Project Report . In May 2015 report on activities and economic justification for the project is developed, detailing the scope and the results obtained in all participating regional governments through continuous assessment carried out during the program through questionnaires, brainstorming sessions and forums posted on the portal. An important feature of the project is to leverage the intrinsic activity : university volunteers , once formed in Human Rights and derivatives, educating in the same subjects school students, who in turn can disseminate the knowledge gained in their environments more nearby , and so in society in general.
