Youth Participation in Volunteering

This project seminar was held in Malta and will focused on how youth workers and youth leaders can motivate young people in volunteering. Young people from Lithuania, Bulgaria, Estonia, Turkey, Hungary and Malta shared experiences and good practices of volunteering and also studied and reflected on how they can become better in enabling young people to participate as volunteers. The seminar took place over four day period and was preceded by an introductory evening. The themes discussed included: Myths & Truths on Volunteering; Why Volunteer?; Overcoming barriers to Volunteer; Tips for motivating young people and Types of Opportunities to volunteer & where to look for them. The methods used to discuss these issues included: games, drama, workshops, focus groups and a plenary session.
