Youth Included
Start date: Dec 1, 2014, End date: Feb 29, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The influx of immigrants from third countries in Europe has increased rapidly in recent years, making the need for measures for their smooth integration into society more vital than ever. In the intense debate that has been created around the theme, has been recognized the contribution of youth organizations and the key role they can play in this direction as their activities offer opportunities for dialogue and mutual understanding between indigenous and immigrants but also for the personal development of the latter. In contrast to this, however, the percentages of participation of third country nationals in youth activities are too low. In this context the project «youth included» aims to increase the participation of third country nationals in youth activities with a view to their smooth integration into society. Specifically, the proposed project aims to: • Discover and record good practices across Europe for the participation of third country nationals in youth activities. • Strengthen the abilities of those active in youth work on the organization of joint activities and managing teams with a strong element of diversity. • Strengthen the abilities of immigrant communities to motivate their members for more participation and to organize joint youth activities. • Strengthen cooperation between youth organizations and immigrant communities / organizations. During the project a research will take place across Europe to identify best practices on the integration of third country nationals in youth activities and tools for managing mixed teams, while a series of tools, ideas and activity plans will be created by the participants themselves in the workshops and focus groups that will take place. These activities will lead to the creation of two completed guides; one of them targeted at migrant communities and the second at youth organizations. A series of meetings and networking activities between youth organizations and immigrant communities will also take place. The project will directly involve 220 representatives of immigrant communities and individuals active in the field of youth. The methodology of the project is based on three main foci: continuous dialogue and information exchange, collaborative learning and active participation of the target groups. In all workshops and meetings will be used methods of non -formal learning and the entire project will be implemented through partners’ continuous cooperation in separate but interlinked work packages. Main results of the project are the improvement of the skills of those active in youth work and the representatives of immigrant communities in organizing joint youth activities and their improved relationship. The above mentioned will lead to an increase of third country nationals participation in youth activities which in long-term will help to combat their marginalization and will facilitate their smooth integration into society .
