Youth in Migration: using Campaigning and advocacy tools in the Mediterranean region about Migration, Asylum, and Refugee rights.
Start date: Feb 1, 2015, End date: Jul 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Malta Young Green ADZ, host organisation, will gather 36 youth leaders & youth workers from 9 Mediterranean countries on July 3-11, 2015 in Valleta, Malta to promote better understanding of freedom of movement & human rights advocacy campaigning. Malta is chosen as the it is a very relevant city, bordering Libyan since it is an entry point for migrants. A month ago, 200 migrants drowned in the Maltese waters when trying to flee war and persecution. The general aim of the project is to support youth workers working on social inclusion, intercultural dialogue and solidarity with youth with fewer opportunities in the Euro-Mediterranean region. We aim to promote active youth participation at local, national, regional & European level through creative & innovative youth projects . This training will empower youth workers & leaders (YWL) within our partner organisations to increase their skills, knowledge & attitudes (SKAs) to deal efficiently with the multi-faceted crisis, the “Arab Spring” revolutions, building communities & activism. We intend to raise capacities to implement inclusion projects & campaigns that address these issues challenging youth & civil society participation. We will stimulate & encourage creative proposals led by young people at the local level. Furthermore, we will share perspectives & opportunities for youth mobility & participation within the Erasmus+ programme. This training is for youth workers working on migration, refugees and asylum rights and situation in Mediterranean region of some of FYEG’s Member organizations and MADA EuroMed region formed 6 years ago and gathered last year through a Youth in Action support. For this training, our partners come from Greece, Italy, Jordan,Lebanon, France, Albania, Belgium, Macedonia,Palestine, Tunisia, Turkey. The project aims to promote exchanges, cooperation and training in the field of youth work. The themes of the training include anti-discrimination and empowerment through advocacy campaigning tools e.g. activism, direct action, policy analysis, media communication/youth information/communication. We will also analyse policies within EU on migration and come up with proposals through our youth demands. In the long-term, we aim to strengthen the network we & most of our POs belong to, MADA through the updated SKAs we have improved in the training and eventually in our communities.
