Youth in Charge
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Nov 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Many local youth councils, student councils and local organizations working with youth participation (in the following referred to as Participatory Platforms) face some insecurity due to the lack of necessary experience of the young Youth Leaders. Although they are enthusiastic and inspired, they are limited by the lack of necessary information on how to efficiently encourage the local community to take an active and participatory role in the society. To enable Participatory Platforms to build and maintain an active, communicative and inclusive community, Lollands Produktionsskole, Copiii Bugeacului, ChangeLog Foundation and ZURY Association agreed to plan and implement this project called "Youth in Charge". Together, they have set the following vision for this project: To strengthen Democracy on a global level and to enable Participatory Platforms to motivate their communities to take an active role in their societies world-wide. The project gathers 24 youth leaders from the partner organizations who are eager to improve themselves in Vadul lui Voda, Republic of Moldova from 10th to 17th of October, 2014. These partner organizations are from 4 countries: Denmark, Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania. To work towards the envisaged Vision here are some of the objectives set for the project: - Give the participants tools for efficient communication on all levels - Give sufficient information about the new Erasmus + Programme and the funding possibilities offered - Provide participants with information about the European Representative Democracy - Enable youth leaders to design and implement small-scale events Accordingly, the main activities are built around the themes of Communication Techniques, Public Relations, European Representative Democracy and the Erasmus + Programme. Throughout the project participants will be introduced to different methods of non-formal learning that they will apply during the different activities. These include different presentations where interaction is encouraged as well as sessions where participants have to work in groups and they have to gather ideas, discuss problems and work together on a specific task. As a result of this project, the most important impact envisaged regarding the participants is that they will be reassured in their roles as youth leaders and go home feeling confident and ready to set and achieve goals for their organizations. By participating in this training the participating youth leaders are enriched by new sets of skills and tools that enhance the efficiency of their Participatory Platforms. Consequently these empowered Participatory Platforms will have the capacity, the knowledge and tools to communicate efficiently, to plan and implement projects successfully and to urge their communities to be active on a larger scale than before. These active communities become aware of the responsibilities they have as European Citizens and will be inspired to exercise their power and thus, they strengthen European Democracy on the long run.
