YOUth for RefuGeneration
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Feb 28, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

We plan a transnational youth exchange in Kouklioi (in addition, many activities will take place in Doliana refugee camp and some activities will take place in Ioannina, Monodendri, Aristi and Dodoni), Greece from 14th to 23rd of October 2016. During the last year, many thousands of refugees from Middle East and African countries have fled the political, military conflicts and enormous economic struggles of their countries and arrived in Europe in search for peaceful living conditions. Greece is a boarder county of the EU and has received many thousands of refugees during the last years, in 2015 in particular. There are many official and unofficial refugee camps all around Greece and right now, in the spring of 2016, there are several refugee camps also in the region of Epirus and the hosting organization Youth Center of Epirus is located near to some of them (Konitsa, Doliana, Katsika and Tsepelovo) and volunteers and helps for organization at Doliana camp especially. Objectives of this project are: - To promote tolerance and inclusion of refugees in EU society;- To raise awareness of the possibilities to help the inclusion on refugees in our society, to share positive images and background stories of the refugees to the EU society;- To prevent radicalization, promote diversity, inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue, sense of EU citizenship and political awareness among the citizens of EU;- To promote inter-cultural learning and collaboration.Main planned activities and working methods are going to be educational and/or team spirit building games, structured discussions, sharing experiences and thoughts, writing down and sharing the results of discussions, group works, creation of presentations with talking, writing or drawing, leading and participation in interactive presentations, team work, detailed planning and implementation of voluntarism activities at a refugee camp and detailed planning of refugee's profile and background learning, creation of a social media page for promotion of the project's practical outcome - sharing background stories and positive images of the refugees as well as promotion of peace, tolerance and inclusion. 30 participants from Greece, France, Spain, Lithuania, Estonia and Bulgaria will be taking part in this project. They will be coming from various backgrounds and have various profiles, generally aged 16-30. We expect the involved organizations to gain new experience and motivation to pay attention to refugees issues and most generally, to humanity crisis and social issues. We foresee participants of this project to gain better attitudes related to solidarity especially for refugees, to gain better attitudes and interest to learn more about inter-cultural learning, politic awareness, active citizenship, peace building, inclusion of disadvantaged social groups. We also expect participants to find out positive aspects of non-formal learning and to continue to receive it also after this project – we plan that participants will create a network between them and to plan common international on-line activities (on the social media page created during this project) about helping refugees and about the positive image of refugees and in this way the impact on participants would be the most visible. One of the target groups of this project are the refugees in EU and in particular the refugees of Epirus, Greece region. We expect them to see that its possible to make their image more positive and to become more integrated in the society because there are people in EU willing to help for it as well as to receive a practical benefit from this project through the activities participants would do at their camp. Other target group of this project are young people and grown ups of communities of involved partner organisations of this project and people inhabiting areas where are refugee camps and urgent refugee integration needs as well as European society in general. This project will promote welcoming of refugees in EU community, solidarity, tolerance, peace, diversity, inclusion, inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue between the EU and refugee communities as well as to prevent radicalization.
