Youth centers and hostels - Importance of infrastructure in youth work

Youth centers and hostels - the importance of infrastructure in youth work , is study visit of two partner countries, Slovenia and Finland. Both countries have established youth centers with accommodation facilities, among others they are connected to the national network of youth centers. During the previous collaborations and meetings, both organizations, Youth Network MaMa and Network of Finnish youth centers, have found many similarities as well as differences in their operations. Therefore they have devised a joint project aiming at the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the areas of youth structures; organization of a network of youth centers; utilization of infrastructure capacity for multi-day youth programs; methods of work with young people and networking of key players in the field of education - the state , education, youth centers. The study visit will involve 15 participants (10 from Finland, five from Slovenia), namely the directors of youth centers, representatives of network and youth worker professionals. During the study visit the participants will visit 7 Slovenian youth centers hostels, learn about their organization, work processes, program structure, methods of work with young people; learn the system and the structure of the operation of the network MaMa and structural arrangement of the youth sector in Slovenia . Throughout the study visit we will look for opportunities of mutual transfer of good practices and the development of joint international projects. The basic objective of the project is to acquire and develop competences in order to improve the quality of youth work in the local environment. Throughout the study visit participants will track their learning outcomes and at the end of the study visit they will write their competencies in the Youthpass. A key outcome of the project are improving of competencies related to the professional profile and enhanced cooperation between youth centers , because both partners will also encourage their members to establish direct partnerships.
