Youropean Future
Start date: May 1, 2015, End date: Apr 30, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

Given the topic's relevance for the EU, this project treats the subject of youth unemployment and the following problems of poverty and social exclusion. In the context of an international youth exchange, twenty young people from Germany and Greece will meet in Crete to discuss the topic and develop approaches to solving the problem. The young people participate in all project phases. All studying methods allow the participants to develop their own ideas and concepts: for example workshops, roll plays, discussions, group work and presentations are used. To support cross-cultural competences, there will be excercises treating the self-perception and awareness of others. Dealing with the subject of youth unemployment, a current concern of the European society, the participants gain access to Europe in a way which is closely related to their own reality of life. To know about youth unemployment and the related problems is the first step for overcoming it. The young people will be sensitised to the fact that they are not alone with their problems. In this process, they will be united as European citizens and become aware of their very important role for the European future. Exchanging their perspectives within an intercultural dialogue, the participants develop important key skills for their career. The international youth exchange affords the opportunity to overcome prejudices and see one's own country and reality of life through the eyes of someone else and within an European context - particularly in context of the latest economic and financial crisis. To be part of the youth exchange will support the participants' understanding for diversity.
