Context/background: The citybound Nieuwegein and Pulawy exists 20 years along with the Initiativegroup Pulawy (IG). The policy of the Municipality and the IG is the last years to organize the youthexchange with a theme of the Millenniumgoals of the UN. This year we choose to deepen one of the goals: enviroment and sustainability. Twenty younsters in both cities start meetings under the guidence one of the members of the IG to contact with a similar group in Pulawy and prepare a show about this theme: they research, get information, discuss with each other, make a script, rehearse dances etc. In Nieuwegein all youngster came together to practise and model for the final performance. Objectives: Learning from each other, awareness of your own culture and the differences of an other culture, way of life; speaking a foreign language, through information look different at the inviroment and sustinability, be aware of your own contribution to it and develop a deeper insight; look further and find out what´s going on with the earth; make friends and have fun; show a good performance and spread the information in your enviremont. Number and profile of participants: the 40 participants are younsters aged 13 to 17 from different schools and 7 guides; one of them is the coordinator, other members have expirience with youthexchange or are teachers at special schools. Description of activities: Every day rehearsels, visit a classroom, cooking together, organize a crazy evening, visit Anne Frank museum, swimming and bowling, visit the waste disposal station. Methodology used : the central workmethod is activating participation; own initiative and creativity is leading within the program, reinforce selfconfidance, discussions and come to conclusions, cooperation in small and the whole group, learn from each other. Short description of results: there is coming to existence a proces in the group by knowing each other better and better; developing more courage to speak English in a small or bigger group; they feel free to sing at dance at the stage. The participants know a lot more about the theme and will spread it in their own enviroment, home and school. They will be aware more of the own culture and recognize the differences of an other culture, habits and values. Their view at thier own city and country has been broaden by visiting the Anne Frank museum and the consequencies of the war; they realize that they are European citizens. Impact envisaged: There is a press report about the theme of the project and the programme with special attention for the performance and invitation for all the citizens. Flyers and posters shall be maded and spread. Local and regional press are invited at the show with the meaning that they can write an article about the show. The Dutch younsters keep up the weblog after the exchange and take part at manifestations of the IG on the market; their enthusiasm will infect other younsters for the programe of Yuoth in Action among other things by using the logo of Youth in Action at folders and T-shirts. The potential longer term benefits: After the exchange the younsters hold presentations at schools about the project and spread information about the possibilities of Youth in Action programme; the IG can ask them to participate in other activities of the IG.
