Young Travellers: Emotions.

In this project we will work with young teenagers, aged 14 and 15 years old. This young group is formed by 14 spanish participants and 14 finnish participants (girls and boys). We will be working two big subjects at the same time. On one hand, improving emotional intelligence, developing the ability to perceive, express, facilitate and handle their own emotions and those of the others. The purpose is to train the participants in a series of emotional skills which can reduce maladjusted behaviours and favor the general welfare of the teenager in two ways (in a more intrapersonal level) providing strategies for the regulation of inner emotiones and increasing strategies to manage other people emotions. We want them to learn about themselves and their culture and history of their city at the same time. Surrounded by the digital age and the ICT, they are no able to know about their own city. Once they have learned all this, they will be able to express and communicate, putting up (participants from both countries) his vision of the world around them, assimilating new concepts and cultures. But, in order to express themselves, they need to lose their fear of communicating in a foreign language. Therefore, we will work the linguistic competence, performing linguistic exchanges in english. Because most of students know the english language in the theorical way (writing, verbs, etc), but they never get the chance to put it in practice (speak, learn, sing, watch a movie, etc). We are going to create this activity circle so they can practice (listen and speak) English in an effectively and enjoyable way. Closing this circle we pretend all participants to be the protagonists of their own "emotional journey". Involving them in an active way, participating not only in the activities, but also organizing and planning the activities themselves the activities that will be developed during the whole project (making them aware of the taken decisions and responsabilities). With all these "closed circle" of working emotional intelligence, culture diversity, language exchange, and active participation, we get a total development of the participants, which means their own "emotional journey".
