Young Migrants on the Move in Europe
Start date: Aug 1, 2016, End date: Jan 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

The two partners of the study visit „Young migrants on the move in Europe“ are Dedalus from Italy and BJR from Germany. 7 social workers and cultural mediators working with young refugees and unaccompanied minors will come to Germany for a 1-week study visit, meeting social workers and volunteers from BJR, working in connection to our action program “Flüchtlinge werden Freunde”. This study visit will offer the opportunity to get connected on this important issue to find new ways and answers when addressing young migrants and refugees in youth work. We plan also to include young migrant volunteers as participants and experts on the topic of migration of young people. The group will visit projects and good practice of youth work integrating young refugees, discuss reception policies and mechanisms, migration routes and experiences with good social practices. Combining this results with the experience from the first study trip to Dedalus, the objectives of the projects are to share different European perspectives and approaches on the same topic. Hence we want to improve the knowledge on migration routes and realities of young migrants in Europe, to reflect on best practices and eventually come to results and recommondations for a better migration policy for young people. The expected future developments are follow-up projects like for example capacity-building, job-shadowing and sustainable cooperation.
