Young Europeans for Gender Equality
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Jan 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

This youth exchange project (Action 1.1 of the European Program Youth in Action) is carried out by Ile-de-France delegation of Concordia and by l’Antenne Jeunes Flandre from the nineteenth district of Paris, in collaboration with l’Equipe de Développement Local and la Maison des Copains de la Villette. It proposes to young Europeans from 4 different nationalities to participate to a 7 days youth exchange project on the theme of gender equality. The 24 participants will be welcome, from Sunday 31st August to Sunday 7th September 2014, within the Antenne Jeunes Flandre to realize a drawing exhibition which will illustrate their vision of gender equality. They will also participate to several workshops (creation of sketches, visits, quizzes, moving debate etc…) on the fight against gender discrimination, stereotypes and prejudices. Through different creating and reflection activities, and thanks to a technical and educational support, these young Europeans will profit from different spaces of communication (drawing creations, theatre, debate etc.). They will not only improve their artistic skills but also increase their self- confidence and their self-esteem in their own capacities. Theses workshops, supplemented with spaces to talk, debates and visits, will allow them to constitute a network of young Europeans in order to share their experiences and to cooperate on new projects. At the end of this exchange, the young Europeans will organize the exhibition opening which will be opened to all the neighborhood of the Antenne Jeunes Flandre (avenue de Flandre) of Paris. The original idea came from the Antenne Jeunes Flandre, and more precisely from young people themselves. During the setting up of the project, the group of young participants showed fine evidence of motivation, individual involvement and reflection on the project.
