Young Diversity - A power in future E
Start date: Jul 15, 2010,

Young Diversity is a shortfilm project involving talented young artists from different countries in Europe. Everyone involved is between the age of 18 and 24. The project itself is a strive to build bridges between artists from different countries and cultures through the medium of drama. Every aspect of this project from the original script, to the directing, cinematography and music will be created by project participants. And it is our hope that through screenings, school visits and festivals it will go on to affect audiences beyond national borders. The film is called Bergtagen (in Swedish) or By the Mountain in English and the story itself reflects the nature and idea behind the project. It's a tale of adolescent confusion, friendship and the will to find direction in life. The story revolves around the breakup of a young British rockband during their tour through Europe. We meet them in Sweden just as the lead singer Ramsey has left the band in the middle of the tour. The rest of the band (and childhood friends of Ramsey) decide to try to find him before the producers learn what's happened and kick him out of the band. While trying to hitch-hike his way home Ramsey meets Lea, a young Sami girl (the indigenous people of the nordic region), and despite language barriers they travel the highway together. At the same time the band turns to locals of their own to track down their friend and end up learning a lot about Scandinavian culture, perhaps even more than they bargained for.
