Young Citizens Project

The Young Citizens Project was launched by the city ofBristol, which has had already made previous efforts of youthinclusion in the decision-making process, through theirURBAN II programme.The network held its first meeting in September 2004to launch the work of the group. This network held a seriesof local focus group meetings in-between the 2 key networkmeetings to ensure a continued work on the subject. At theinterim meeting in April 2005 the first results were presentedand the work programme was reshaped to involve moreyoung people in the exchange. A further interim meeting washeld in October 2005 to focus on the analytical work andto produce some policy recommendations.The work of the network is structured around focus groups(laboratories) in which young people will act as researcherson, or evaluators of, a practice whereby young people playan active role in decision-making. These focus groups areconducted separately in each partner city following a commonguide issued by the thematic expert.
