Sprijin si Dezvoltare Association from Brasov, Romania in partnership with C.I.P Citizens In Power (PO.SI Polites se Ischy) from Cyprus, Associazione Culturale Strauss from Italy, Eesti People to People from Estonia, EUROCIRCLE from France, Geoclube - Associação Juvenil de Ciência, Natureza e Aventura from Portugal, and Youth Inclusion Association from Turkey implemented the project “Youth Unemployment”, Project funded by the European Union through Erasmus + Programme, Key Action 1: Learning Mobility of Individuals. Recent economic situation affects young people, increasing unemployment rate, and social exclusion and at-risk poverty rate. Youth work, through non-formal education, should provide activities for young people addressing unemployment and social exclusion problem, thus playing a fundamental role in supporting youth education, and encourage them to participate in social life. The aim of the project was to use the non-formal education to tackle long-term unemployment among young people. The overall objective of the project was: personal and professional development of 32 long-term unemployed youth to facilitate their access to the labour market and personal and professional development of 40 youth workers from 7 countries to facilitate the access to the labour market of long-term unemployed youth by raising the level of their key competencies and skills. The activities of the project were 2 mobilities: - The first activity was a youth exchange, in 19-29 November 2015. The target group were 32 youth with fewer opportunities facing economic obstacles that are in long term unemployment, aged between 18 and 30 years old, and 9 youth leaders from 7 different countries. - The second activity was a Training course, in 31 January – 10 February 2016. The target group were 40 youth workers, no age limit, from 7 different countries. The project supported the 32 long-term unemployed youth people to develop and gain new competences in order to improve their personal development and employability on the European labour market and beyond. The project provided learning experiences for young people to develop competences needed to find a job. The project supported the professional development of youth workers to innovate and improve the quality of youths from the 7 countries across Europe. Youth workers developed their skills to use non-formal education to support long-term unemployed youths and they developed measures and recommendations to help improve the quality of youth work. During the Youth exchange based on the competences acquired the 32 youths draw draw 4 stories of 4 young people that are searching for a job. The 4 stories are available through 4 magazines. During the Training course the 40 youth workers developed an Action Plan to be used by the youth workers to facilitate the integration of the long-term unemployed youth into the labour market through youth work. The action plan contains also 4 videos. The videos offer information about: - The process of applying to a job and the challenges that a youth have in order to find a job according to his educational background. - The opportunities that the European Union offers in order to work, to study and volunteer abroad. The video gives a boarder perspective of the internships and traineeship across Europe. - How to write a CV, How to write a cover/ motivation letter, Tips and tricks how to handle a job interview - The opportunities and challenges of a youth working abroad. During the Training course the youth workers developed policy recommendation for the policy makers in order to facilitate the access to the labour market of the long-term unemployed youth. They have approached the unemployment problem in a holistic way at local, national and European level. The youth workers also developed policy recommendations for youth work in order to strength the youth work visibility and their role to fight against social exclusion of the long-term unemployed youths.
