You(TH) Moving to Future: Volunteering in a Multicultural background: Group and Long term EVS 2016-17 is a Group and long term EVS Project organized in Rijswijk, The Netherlands and Thessaloníki in Greece for 19 volunteers. The project is motivated and organized by Don Bosco Youthnet Nederland (DBYn NL), local government and different partners from six different countries. DBYn NL has been hosting and sending EVS volunteers for the past 12 years. It has been always a positive experience for all the partners, and especially for the young people with fewer opportunities who benefit a lot from such an experience. And this inspires us to go forward being active in such good youth projects. This project aims to help young people to travel to a new culture, new people, speak a new language and cross own mind set up to help out other people and in this process discover themselves and acquire life skills. It aims to give volunteers an experience of European Voluntary Service promoting inter-cultural learning and skills in working with children (often disadvantaged) and young people. Responsibilities are given to the volunteer, and through daily interaction with other (EVS) volunteers and living together with them, the experience is being shared and learned from. The project activity Group EVS is starting from 2-30 October 2016 at USB in Thessaloníki, Greece for 12 young people with fewer opportunities from the Netherlands. The long term EVS is for one year starting from the 1st of September 2016 to 30 August 2017 consist of 6 volunteers from Germany, Greece, Italy, Spain, Romania and France at Don Bosco Rijswijk and 1 volunteer from the Netherlands in USB in Thessaloniki, Greece. The concrete tasks of the volunteers will be to assist the children in different age groups in the overblijf (lunch break in a school) and in organizing youth exchanges, trainings, receiving groups both national and international for activities. There are additional activities like: organizing kids feasts, open house, and holiday activities for the children. This project make great impact on all the partners involved especially the volunteers because this is going to change their life. This project help the participants to develop skills, attitude and competences to work in a team and to work in the youth field, create job and net working opportunities in Europe. In turn this project creates good partnerships, possibilities for future youth projects for the partner organisations.
