YOU(r) Europe
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project “YOU(r) Europe” foresees engagement of 2 young volunteers from United Kingdom. From the 1st of October 2014 for one year, they will carry out their voluntary service at the association YouNet. “YOU(r) Europe” gives the opportunity to 2 young people to start a path of social, personal and professional growth by contributing to strengthen the youth policies and the European awareness in the area of Bologna. The 2013 Citizenship report ranks among the obstacles to the right to mobility the fact that young people do not always find relevant information about the existing mobility opportunities [COM(2013) 269]. In addition, 2012 Joint Report of the Council and the Commission on the implementation of the renewed framework for European cooperation in the youth field notes that “although the Member States acknowledge the links between culture and creativity and youth policy, the National Youth Reports do not report many activities in this field of action”. “YOU(r) Europe” is designed to contribute to these problems solving by engaging young volunteers in YouNet’s daily activities in the field of youth work, European awareness and information and mobility for learning. “YOU(r) Europe” aims to give an opportunity for 2 youngsters to directly contribute to the development and improvement of the local context of Bologna in the field of European youth activities and information, as well as to make a contribution on national and European level. The project foresees participation of two young people that at the period of selection process are unemployed and have already finished their university studies. The activities to be carried out within their EVS will support volunteers in enlarging their knowledge about EU and the opportunities offered by European programmes, meeting other young active people, raising awareness on a new culture, living habits and language, working in multicultural and multigenerational environment. Besides this, the volunteers will work in a context of promotion of the intercultural dialogue and mobility, learn and share good practices and gather knowledge applicable to their future contribution to activities and projects in their home countries. The project aims to support informal and non-formal education and throughout these forms to strengthen volunteers’ skills and capacities. The volunteers will be enlarging own experiences by working among peers in an environment free from prejudices and stereotypes. The activities within “YOU(r) Europe” are subdivided into two paths: Youth for Youth and Youth for Europe. Youth for Youth is focused on organization and implementation of the local activities with/for youths, the activities are aimed to enrich local youths’ intercultural awareness and tolerance through the events related to music, cinema, comic strips, different workshops and etc. Youth for Europe is focused on volunteer’s inclusion in international and local initiatives and projects related to European dimension, this path is aimed on raising EU awareness in an interactive and creative way. The project will make a strong impact on involved youth and the networking among EU partners due to continuous and constant contact between hosting and sending organizations. The project will impact not only 2 volunteers carrying out their voluntary services but also local youth and other local and international volunteers hosted by YouNet. Since YouNet is organizing various activities on different levels in cooperation with other organizations, the project results will make a visible impact not only on local, but also on regional and national levels. The volunteers’ communities of origin will also benefit from the project results, as the volunteers will be able to apply knowledge, capacities and skills gained during their service to the other contexts within their local community. The project also foresees a long-term impact by creating networking and strengthening existing partnerships on local and international levels, this will become a platform for creating new projects and initiatives aimed to increase the social and human capital of Europe, youth mobility, multiculturalism and to reinforce youth activity in and outside EU. The volunteers will be provided with different kind of preparation, including pre-departure trainings, monthly and weekly evaluation meetings and etc. The volunteers will be supported by the project coordinator and their mentors within the entire duration of the project. Sending and hosting organizations will develop strong cooperation in order to achieve the objectives and aims of the project and realize the expectations of the volunteers.
