Yellow Brick Road - career guidance competencies training for youth workers

NGO “Nectarus” initiates the training on youth workers career guidance competencies development. Together with 6 more partners, from 7 countries in total – Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Turkey, Hungary and Portugal. In the training programme, 28 participants will be invited to develop their competencies within employability topic, for 10 days in Daugirdiskes, Lithuania. Training is built for practitioners directly working with young people career development, or willing to work within this topic. Participants will be selected in cooperation with partner organisations, according to their profile – background and experience in work with employability, their motivation, expectations and eagerness for follow up activities. Project idea came from experience working within youth sector, employers (business sector) and the situation in European labour market – high young people unemployment rates through-out all Europe. Our international project aims to increase employability among young people, by raising the youth work quality, on how to work with young people career development/ guidance. Learning sessions will be focused on youth workers competencies development. Participants will get acquainted on the context in labour market in Europe, share their work practises, get aware about themselves and their work with youngsters, develop competencies in working in international groups. Furthermore, they will practise core coaching skills, and work with employability dimensions, which are essential in work with youth career development. The training course will be structured in practical learning sessions based on non-formal education principles and methods and will be highly participatory and experiential. Throughout training programme participants will be provide with variety of skills and tools, what firstly will help to improve their own performance, enrich their work with youngsters and what will lead to stronger organisations, by having competent org members. After the training results of the seminar will be transferred through follow-up activities, in 2 months period after the training programme ends. Project results will be disseminated by participants firstly within their organisations, with their colleagues and members, as well applied in practise with young people in their daily work, which will have impact on their regions, and at least at small part in their countries and at EU level. This training aims to create the base for national and international follow-up activities and projects, which in training sessions will be ensured by creating environment for networking and further cooperation among partners involved in the project.
