YE-Cultural Colours
Start date: Aug 1, 2014, End date: Oct 31, 2014 PROJECT  FINISHED

The youth exchange on culture will take place in Armenia, in September 2014. Youth Initiative Centre will be hosting organisation. Within the framework of the project, a 9-day cultural youth exchange will be organized. The YE will bring together 6 representatives per each of 5 organizations from Programme and EPW countries. Each country group will consist of 5 participants and 1 team leader in total 30 young people. The main aim of the project is to bring together youth of Europe, to give them chance to meet and communicate, especially to the youth of the countries which have no way of communication because of the distance existing between their countries. As this project involves also youth EECA countries, its secondary aim is also to emphasize that Europe is not only the European Union, but it is much larger community that shares the same values. The objectives of the project are : - To help participants recognize different cultures, traditions, find shared values as well as differences between them, as the basis for understanding and tolerance; through giving them chance to work and live together. -To bring together young people who live in countries where there is a lack of communication due to distance by sharing cultures and traditions. -To give chance youth from EECA countries and European Union to meet, communicate, share cultures, ideas and emphasize that Europe is not only the European Union, but it is much more larger community that shares the same values and doesn’t know any borders. - To give young people an example of cooperation on the international level and to encourage them to undertake similar activities in the future. The theme of the project is meeting and collaboration of young people from different cultures – but equal regardless of their ethnic or religious background, their gender or social circumstances. Culture and tradition will give chance to the participants to know each other better and become close while living together 9 days and having chance to introduce each other their cultures, to find similarities and accept differences between the nations and cultures. The project will help to break stereotypes and to understand that conflicts between their countries shouldn’t be an obstacle for the young people to meet, share ideas and just communicate with each other.
