"Well-qualified Staff is the Key to a Successful School" is a project created by Szkola Podstawowa im. Jana Brzechwy w Giemlicach in response to the need of raising the quality of teaching and improving the results of teaching English. The main topic of the project is teaching and learning of foreign languages and the main priority is to modernize the institution by involving teachers, employed in the school, in active participation in courses organized abroad. The project is supposed to last nineteen months. It involves three teachers employed in the organisation, including: an English teacher, a maths and information technology teacher as well as an English and pre-school teacher. The course schedule includes five main project activities, all involving participation in courses and training. All the activities included in the course schedule have been carefully chosen in order to match the individual needs of the course participant. As a consequence, each teacher will take part in three international courses. It will enable teachers to boost theirprofessional skills and gain new ones. Teachers are supposed to take part in the courses in order to raise the level of linguistic competence in the field of communication in English as well as to become familiar with the idea of billingual education. Participation in courses and contact with native English speakers will not only boost teachers' vocabulary, but also expand the knowledge of grammar. It is also supposed to contribute to gaining fluency in spaking English as well as correct pronunciation. What is more, participation in methodological courses is a perfect opportunity to learn effective methods of teaching English. It also enables participants to exchange experiences and ideas among teachers from different European Schools. Moreover, the CLIL course provides teachers with knowledge and skills that are necessary to implement the elements of billingual teaching. During the project, teachers are going to use the European tools, such as Europass – Language Passport and Europass – Mobility (a document). It is expected that the project will result in raising the attractiveness of English classes. It will lead to better results achieved in teaching English. In consequence, the project will bring long-lasting results, such as motivated students that are eager to participate in English classes. The introduction of the elements of billingual teaching will help students to become more familiar with English language. All participant of the project will share their experiences with teachers working not only in the same school but also with the staff employed in other schools. Teachers are supposed to disseminate the results of the project. Therefore, the project involves activites, such as: presentation and discussions at the meeting of the teaching staff, presentations and discussions at the meeting of teachers teams (humanistic team; math and IT team), a multimedia presentation for parents about the culture of Great Britain (prepared by students with the help of teachers), open lessons for teachers from different schools, detailed report about the project (on Etwinning, school webiste, school Facebook profile, in the local press). In conclusion, the project will bring long-lasting and fruitful results that will be visible not only during the project but also after its completion.
