PROJECT
FINISHED
"The main aim of this project is to raise the competences and to broaden the knowledge of the teachers of English in our institution which will allow more effective teaching of English as a Foreign Language. The project is a great opportunity to promote and encourage both our co-workers and our learners to participate in similar activities within the Erasmus plus programme. Being an educational institution we pay great attention to human capital and potential of our workers as we believe that people are the ones who create the institution and have an impact on its development and success, as well as they influence the success and progress of our learners due to raising their competence in foreign languages. This is why, we put great emphasis on our workers' development and continuous broadening of their competences. As an institution, we continuously make efforts and encourage our co-workers to broaden their knowledge and raise their competences. Taking into consideration the developmental needs of our institution as well as the wish to cooperate with small but steady group of teachers, we have prepared a very complex project during which the participants will have the opportunity to raise their competences and broaden their knowledge. As a small institution we do not have many teachers therefore we do our best to offer our co-workers chances to specialize in the areas of their interest by providing them with the opportunity of attending courses on various subjects. This explains the number of activities that we have planned for this project.
The project is designed for three participants - two teachers of English and one educationalist working for our institution who at the same time will be in charge of coordinating the whole project. The educationalist specializes also in pedagogy, teaching English as a Foreign Language and coaching the employees in preparing courses, teaching methods and choosing proper materials which face the expectations of the learners. The participants of the project do have knowledge and experience in the field, however, we are aware that the trends are changing due to the technological development, new discoveries in fields of psychology, methodology, or theory of teaching and learning. Thus, we realize the need of continuous development, exchanging experiences with other teachers, broadening our perspective for the international market. We have chosen seven courses concerning various issues in the area of teaching methodology, culture and language. The titles of the courses include for example Creative Methodology for the Classroom, Building Positive Group Dynamics, Advanced Language and Methodology, British Life, Language and Culture, Fluency & English Language Development for Teachers, or Professional Communication Skills. The courses are well planned in time (July 2014, January 2015 and March 2015). We would also like to share our experience with teachers from other parts of the world, speak about good practices in our teaching and learn new ones. The participation in the courses will be a chance to meet teachers from other countries and to start cooperation which will allow for realizing other activities within the Erasmus plus programme.
As a result of the project we expect to:
-refresh and enliven our knowledge about teaching,
-raise the quality of teaching within our institution,
-raise competences in the areas of our interest,
-improve the workshop of our teachers and at the same time augment their creativity and use of innovative techniques,
-share and exchange the experiences - learn alternative methods of teaching and learning,
-heighten the proper choice of teaching materials,
-look at teaching from the international and multicultural perspective.
The benefits of this project are long-lasting and encompass inter alia providing higher quality of teaching, or multicultural and international exchange of experiences. Well educated, competent and trained human capital is the future and development of our institution. We also hope for starting long- lasting cooperation with other institutions and using it in similar projects. "
